Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality progressive care to adult and geriatric patients in the Stepdown/PCU unit
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Respond and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams when needed
• Administer medications using unit medication dispensing systems and follow safe medication practices
• Perform IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy with attention to infection prevention
• Deliver respiratory support including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic using SBAR communication for handoffs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient-centered care plans

Qualifications

• Active Ohio nursing license (RN) required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
• BLS required and ACLS required
• Progressive care / Stepdown / PCU experience preferred
• Comfort with floating between units within the OSU organization
• Follows facility vaccine policies: flu vaccine required with medical exemptions only
• Ability to work night shifts and participate in weekend coverage every other weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Epic documentation system
• Cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with medication dispensing systems such as Pyxis, Accudose, or Omnicell
• IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy skills
• Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Effective SBAR communication and clinical handoff techniques
• Use of Rapid Response and Code team protocols
• Comfort working in MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown environments
