Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform and obtain 12-lead EKGs and assist with interpretation to support cardiology providers
• Conduct focused cardiology assessments including vital signs, pain assessment, and pulse oximetry
• Administer medications (IM/ID/SC/IV), start and manage IV infusions, and provide safe medication documentation
• Use EPIC to accurately chart patient encounters, results, and follow-up plans
• Triage phone calls, handle pharmacy refill requests, and coordinate follow-up communications
• Collect specimens (capillary and urine) and review lab/imaging results to inform care decisions
• Respond confidently in high-acuity situations (CPR/AED readiness) and collaborate with the care team
• Ensure smooth patient flow in an ambulatory cardiology clinic and step in quickly to cover workflows

Qualifications

• Active Washington RN license or Compact RN licensure required (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of cardiology experience required; ambulatory cardiology experience strongly preferred
• Proven EPIC experience required — must be comfortable charting in EPIC
• Comfortable administering IV therapy, injections, and cardiac medications (including antiarrhythmics and nitroglycerin)
• Able to respond promptly for a Teams interview (candidates must confirm within 24 hours)
• Ability to adapt quickly to clinic workflows and provide high-acuity ambulatory care

Knowledge & Skills

• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and arrhythmia recognition
• Arrhythmia interpretation and cardiac assessment skills
• Medication administration: IM, ID, SC, IV infusions, emergency meds
• Anticoagulation therapy knowledge and management basics
• IV starts, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing familiarity
• Telephone triage, pharmacy refill processing, and follow-up call management
• EPIC charting proficiency and lab/imaging result interpretation
• CPR/AED competency and emergency response readiness
