Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from anesthesia
• Continuously assess patient status and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Manage airway, respiratory, hemodynamic and pain needs in the PACU setting
• Administer medications and IV therapy safely and document interventions accurately
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical teams and interdisciplinary staff for smooth patient transitions
• Educate patients and families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required per facility policy
• Prior PACU, post-anesthesia, or perioperative nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and post-anesthesia monitoring
• Airway and respiratory management
• IV medication administration and titration
• Postoperative pain management and multimodal strategies
• Familiarity with perioperative workflows and handoffs
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Effective teamwork and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
