Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (NOC). Note: orientation Week 1 is Monday-Friday dayshift with Week 2 consisting of 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor. Accepting rotating 12-hour D/N contracts; you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination based on staffing.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to keep high-acuity patients safe
• Provide progressive care level nursing for oncology patients, including PCU-level interventions
• Administer and manage IV therapy, central and peripheral lines, PICC lines and port access
• Perform blood product administration and follow heparin and cardiac drip protocols as applicable
• Manage respiratory supports including HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care
• Respond on rapid response or code teams and collaborate with interdisciplinary partners
• Implement infection prevention and patient fall prevention practices consistently
• Document accurately in Epic and communicate changes in condition to the care team
• Float to equivalent or lower acuity units as needed and support unit staffing priorities

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (eligible to practice in Ohio)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience noted; oncology experience preferred but not required
• Must meet specialty experience requirements within the last 3 years with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Comfortable with high acuity PCU/telemetry patients and required unit ratios
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Willingness to float within similar or lower acuity units

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• ABG interpretation and respiratory support devices (HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care)
• IV therapy, IV insertion, PICC and central line care and port access
• Blood product administration and use of rapid response/code teams
• Chest tube management and wound care/Wound VAC familiarity
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and patient fall prevention
• Familiarity with Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanner and GE telemetry systems
• Comfort caring for oncology diagnoses including solid tumor, thoracic and orthopedic oncology
