Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye and vision exams with precision and care
• Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions and make timely referrals
• Fit and prescribe contact lenses and corrective lenses as needed
• Document clinical findings and treatment plans accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with correctional facility healthcare staff to ensure continuity of care
• Provide patient education on eye health, preventive care, and treatment adherence
• Participate in quality improvement efforts and maintain clinic standards

Qualifications

• Active California optometry license (OD) required
• Comfort with clinical work in a correctional facility environment; ability to pass background and security clearance
• Strong clinical skills in primary eye care and contact lens fittings
• Excellent patient communication and documentation skills
• Prior clinical or correctional healthcare experience preferred but enthusiastic early-career clinicians are welcome
