Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful care to patients in a correctional mental health setting
• Monitor and document patient behavior, symptoms, and treatment progress accurately
• Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and therapeutic activities
• Use de-escalation techniques and promote a safe environment for patients and staff
• Collaborate closely with nurses, psychiatrists, and facility staff to coordinate care
• Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and follow facility policies and protocols

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential required
• Open to newly licensed candidates; two-week training provided
• Ability to work a Wednesday through Sunday schedule, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
• Comfort working in a correctional facility environment and following security procedures
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Education

• Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Technician program as required for LPT licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient observation and assessment skills
• De-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Basic understanding of psychiatric conditions and treatment approaches
• Team collaboration and clear communication with multidisciplinary staff
• Ability to follow facility safety and security protocols
