Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting, honoring patient rights and dignity
• Administer medications, IV therapy and treatments per physician orders and facility policies
• Perform routine assessments, monitor vitals and document changes using facility charting systems
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, therapists and support staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges while maintaining continuity of care
• Maintain required competencies and participate in trainings to ensure safe, evidence-based practice
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents and family members, including those with limited English proficiency

Qualifications

• Current and active Alaska LPN license in good standing
• Current BLS/CPR (BCLS) certification required
• IV certification required or willingness to complete IV certification course
• Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program; new graduates are welcome to apply
• Preferred: at least 1 year experience in hospital or long-term care, but not required
• Ability to pass and maintain job-specific competencies and facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on patient care in long-term care environments
• Familiarity with IV therapy, pulse oximetry and basic medical equipment such as Datascope and Dynamapp
• Comfort using multi-line telephone systems, computers and fax machines for clinical communication
• Strong communication skills, including working with cultural and language diversity
• Basic math skills for medication calculations and measurements
• Sound clinical reasoning and the ability to follow written and oral instructions
