Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced PCU setting
• Monitor continuous EEG, titrate cardiac drips like Cardizem and beta-blockers, and manage complex conditions including strokes and nephrology issues
• Collaborate with a dynamic team of charge nurses, techs, and physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to respond quickly to changing patient needs
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery goals
• Maintain a positive, supportive attitude while helping colleagues and managing a 1:4-5 patient ratio

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or compact state
• At least 2 years of recent PCU or step-down experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to pass an open-book exam with 90% or higher during orientation
• Valid driver's license for distance verification (50-mile radius rule)
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in titrating drips and managing telemetry monitoring
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to thrive in a high-acuity environment
• Proficiency in cardiac, neurological, and renal patient care
• Flexibility to float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
• Positive attitude and resilience in a fast-paced unit
