Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process and primary nursing principles
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced fetal monitoring and bedside fetal monitors
• Manage labor & delivery (LDRP) patient needs across the continuum of care
• Document care accurately in Meditech and EPIC charting systems
• Administer medications safely (Pyxis supply station experience helpful) and complete medication competency testing on-site
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and required training to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support evidence-based obstetric care and positive birth experiences

Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license required
• Minimum 2 years recent LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience
• BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and STABLE certifications required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy
• Comfortable using Meditech, OBIX, EPIC and Pyxis supply systems
• Ability to complete medication testing within first two weeks on site

Education

• Active RN license (ADN or diploma acceptable); BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in Labor & Delivery and fetal monitoring
• Strong assessment and primary nursing care planning skills
• Experience with Meditech and EPIC electronic charting
• Familiarity with OBIX and bedside fetal monitoring equipment
• Medication administration and Pyxis workflow knowledge
• Ability to work independently in a small-unit setting and adapt to patient acuity
