Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub confidently for cardiac procedures (CABG, valve surgeries) in a fast-paced CVOR environment
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, CSTs and the OR team to ensure smooth, safe operative care
• Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry to promptly identify patient changes
• Provide professional intraoperative nursing care, including instrument handling and sterile technique
• Participate in call rotation and cover weekend responsibilities as part of the team
• Complete required Cerner charting and documentation accurately and in a timely manner
• Precept and collaborate during orientation to support unit continuity and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in California)
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR scrub experience (strong hands-on cardiac OR skillset)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Comfortable reading and interpreting EKG strips and working with telemetry
• Able to scrub 10-hour shifts and handle a busy OR schedule
• Two supervisory references required at submittal (one within 12 months and one within 3 years); charge nurse references accepted
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Education

• Active RN license (California)
• BSN not required (preferred where applicable)
• BLS (AHA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• CVOR scrubbing and intraoperative instrument familiarity
• Cardiac surgery knowledge (CABG, valve procedures)
• EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
• Familiarity with ventilators and respiratory team collaboration
• Collaboration with CSTs and multi-disciplinary OR staff
• Ability to function as first-to-float and adapt to varied shift demands
