Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and organize nursing care for behavioral health inpatients, ensuring safe and effective care plans are implemented
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions for adult clients
• Direct and supervise other clinical staff, making appropriate nursing assignments based on skill level
• Prepare, administer, and document medications in accordance with policy
• Respond to and coordinate emergency care and crisis interventions as needed
• Conduct and facilitate group therapies and participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning
• Maintain accurate, concise, and timely documentation in medical records (Meditech experience helpful)
• Monitor client safety, identify contraband risks, and maintain a therapeutic, secure environment
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and continuous process improvement activities

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; B.S.N. preferred (or equivalent experience)
• BLS certification required
• CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) required
• Demonstrated clinical competence in behavioral health nursing and medication administration
• Ability to stand for 4-6 hours and safely lift up to 25 pounds when assisting clients
• Strong critical thinking, crisis intervention, and emergency response skills
• Comfortable directing and mentoring clinical team members

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• B.S.N. preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Comprehensive patient assessment and care planning
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Infection control standards and compliance
• Crisis intervention and emergency care procedures
• Behavioral health nursing best practices and therapeutic group facilitation
• Electronic health record experience (Meditech) and MS Office familiarity
• Strong communication, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
