Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in the acute care hospital setting and create individualized care plans
• Deliver hands-on treatment and evidence-based interventions to improve function and mobility
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care, collaborating with PTAs, OTs, speech therapists and rehab techs
• Use patient lifting equipment (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove) and safe transfer techniques to protect patients and staff
• Document care thoroughly and accurately in Cerner PowerChart to support continuity and outcomes
• Communicate evaluation results and progress with patients, families and interdisciplinary staff
• Pickup assignments efficiently across units and manage a 1:1 patient ratio when required

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (must have)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum ~2 years of clinical experience (job lists 2 years; acute care experience of at least 1 year preferred)
• Experience in acute care procedures, especially orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary care
• Comfort and experience using patient lifting equipment and working in single-patient room acute settings
• Proven ability to document in Cerner PowerChart and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Acute care therapy and evaluation techniques
• Care plan development and goal-setting aligned with rehab diagnosis/prognosis
• Patient safety and safe transfer/lift practices (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove)
• Proficiency with Cerner PowerChart documentation
• Strong communication skills with patients, families and clinical staff
• Ability to manage time across unit-to-unit patient care assignments
• Familiarity with orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary rehab approaches
