Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care in a medical-surgical unit
• Perform and document accurate vital signs and patient observations
• Assist with EKGs and use of glucometer for point-of-care testing
• Support splinting procedures and basic wound or limb care as needed
• Draw blood and perform phlebotomy duties when required
• Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and handoffs on night shift
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and BLS procedures

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Valid State of Maine nursing license
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with EKG, vital signs, splinting techniques, and glucometer use
• Phlebotomy skills and experience performing blood draws
• Comfortable with night shift work and weekend rotations
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team

Education

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and patient assessment
• EKG acquisition and recognition of basic rhythm patterns
• Accurate measurement and interpretation of vital signs
• Phlebotomy technique and specimen handling
• Splinting basics and safe patient handling
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Clinical documentation and shift handoff best practices
• Good teamwork, time management, and situational awareness on nights
