Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia and COPD
• Manage mechanical ventilators and advanced ventilator modes (troubleshoot, adjust, and wean patients safely)
• Deliver and monitor therapies including high-flow, CPAP and BiPAP
• Perform and interpret respiratory procedures and assessments to guide patient care
• Document care accurately and timely in Meditech to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered plans
• Participate in stroke education initiatives and patient/family teaching to improve outcomes
• Respond to emergency and on-call situations as needed to support unit stability

Qualifications

• Active NBRC credential and current RT license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications (current)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Comfortable with mechanical ventilator management and advanced respiratory therapies
• Experience with Meditech preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with ventilator management and modes (V60, Servo-1, Servo-U)
• Hands-on experience with high flow oxygen therapy, CPAP and BiPAP
• Skilled in respiratory assessment, ABG interpretation and care planning
• Familiarity with hospital documentation systems (Meditech)
• Ability to adapt in a busy 558-bed acute care medical/surgical teaching facility
• Comfortable working on-call and in variable patient-ratio environments
