Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor residents’ condition and document observations accurately and promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention measures during transfers and ambulation
• Collaborate with the nursing team to communicate changes in resident status and follow care plans
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents and visitors

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working in a long-term care or geriatric setting; prior experience is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a resident-centered approach
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow established care plans and facility policies

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Familiarity with ADLs, activities of daily living support, and safe transfer techniques
• Basic vital signs monitoring and charting skills
• Infection control practices and proper use of PPE
• Observation and documentation skills for reporting changes in resident status
• Teamwork and the ability to follow directions from nursing staff
