Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric patients in a short-term acute care setting
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator adjustments and suctioning of ETT/NT
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and titrate ventilator and vasoactive/cardiac drips safely
• Care for invasive lines including arterial and central line management and maintenance
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias and implement appropriate emergency responses
• Deliver neurocritical care support including post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery monitoring and EVD/ICP management when needed
• Use Epic for accurate charting and effective communication across the care team
• Adhere to isolation precautions and correct PPE use to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
• Float between units as assigned to support staffing needs while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (TX preferred) required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Proficiency with Epic charting system required
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, arterial and central line care
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS strongly preferred; NIHSS preferred for neuro-focused roles
• Comfort titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips and managing continuous IV sedation
• Ability to float between units and work a night 4x12 schedule, including every other weekend

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN). BSN preferred but not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ventilator management
• Arterial line and central line care and troubleshooting
• Interpretation of ABGs and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips and management of continuous IV sedation
• Neurological monitoring: EVD, ICP, post-craniotomy and stroke care
• Suctioning (ETT/NT) and BiPAP/CPAP management
• IV therapy and advanced medication titration
• Isolation precautions, PPE use, and infection control best practices
• Epic electronic health record proficiency
