Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate ICU care for oncology and medical-surgical critical patients, including thoracic post-op and esophagectomy cases
• Manage ventilated patients and high-flow support, interpret ABGs, and perform suctioning (ETT/NT)
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy safely according to protocols and CHEMO certification
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy including central/PICC line care, access ports, and blood product administration
• Manage hemodynamics: titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to emergencies
• Care for renal replacement therapy patients using Tablo and manage CVVHD/CRRT cases
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and surgical wound/drain/Wound VAC care
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC and use Pyxis for medication administration
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, intensivists, NP, CRNA, anesthesiology, hospitalists)
• Practice strict infection prevention and isolation precautions, demonstrating excellent SBAR communication

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (must be eligible to practice in the state of assignment)
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience required (trauma Level II facility experience required)
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA classroom/certification — HeartCode not accepted)
• CHEMO certification required
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfort with central line/PICC care, blood product administration, and CVVHD/CRRT
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication system
• Ability to float to MICU within competency and work weekends as needed

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• ADN or BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and multi-system organ failure management
• Ventilator management and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, IV starts, central line and PICC management, accessing ports
• Renal replacement therapy (CVVHD/CRRT) and Tablo dialysis operation
• Chemotherapy administration and oncology patient care
• Chest tube management and post-thoracic surgery care
• ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT/NT), and arterial line management basics
• Use of EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
• SBAR communication, infection prevention, and PPE/isolation precautions
