Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adults on a med-surgical oncology unit
• Safely administer medications and coordinate complex treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Perform thorough patient assessments and intervene quickly when clinical changes occur
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to maintain continuity and safety
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and self-care after discharge
• Support unit workflow by assisting with admissions, discharges, and care coordination across shifts
• Participate as a collaborative team member, mentoring colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (per job posting)
• Experience in oncology or med-surgical nursing strongly preferred
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Ability to work overnight shifts and scheduled weekends, team player attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and med-surgical patient care
• Experience using Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Skilled in patient assessment, IV management, and medication safety
• Comfort with common unit procedures such as echoes and thoracentesis support
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage 1:4 or 1:5 patient ratios safely and effectively
