Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a 16-bed Cardiovascular ICU
• Manage ventilators and advanced hemodynamic monitoring including Swan Ganz catheters
• Perform arterial line, central line and chest tube care and troubleshooting
• Deliver post-operative CABG recovery support when needed and manage mechanical support devices such as Impella
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the Meditech EMR
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge plans
• Participate in unit huddles, handoffs, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Texas required)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (adult ICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU or other critical care specialty) — candidates without this will not be considered
• Demonstrated ventilator management and advanced line/tube care skills (arterial, central lines, chest tubes)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• CCRN and BSN are highly preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR is a plus
• Comfortable working in a 2:1 patient ratio environment and functioning as part of a collaborative team
• Willingness to work night shifts and scheduled weekends as noted

Education

• Active RN license in Texas (required)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory support
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation (Swan Ganz, arterial lines)
• Care and troubleshooting of chest tubes and central/arterial lines
• Familiarity with CRRT and mechanical circulatory support (e.g., Impella)
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR and bedside documentation
• Ability to use GE monitoring systems and EV1000 hemodynamic platforms
• Strong critical thinking, rapid assessment, and crisis management skills
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient/family education abilities
