Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical education to long-term care (LTC) staff across SEARHC sites, primarily in Sitka and Wrangell
- Partner with clinical leaders to develop, standardize, and implement clinical competencies aligned with policy and accreditation standards
- Design, select, and deliver curriculum and training programs for nurses and CNAs that promote evidence-based practice
- Coordinate and support effective preceptorships and student clinical experiences in collaboration with academic partners
- Evaluate educational activities and competency completion, using data and evidence to improve outcomes
- Act as a key member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to consortium-wide projects
- Serve as a liaison for additional clinical education opportunities and promote the SEARHC Seven Standards of Excellence
Qualifications
- BSN from an accredited nursing program (required)
- Current full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred — or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- Clinical Competency completion required within 3 months of hire and maintained per policy
- Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience with at least 2 years in long-term care
- 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred
Education
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of Nursing
Knowledge & Skills
- Curriculum development and adult learning principles
- Clinical competency assessment and standardization
- Evidence-based practice and outcome-focused education
- Strong oral and written communication and leadership skills
- Experience with training delivery across multiple modalities (in-person, virtual platforms)
- Familiarity with TEAMS, Workday, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, Canva, Articulate (or willingness to learn)
- Policy compliance, accreditation standards, and quality improvement mindset
- Ability to create positive learning environments and coach staff at all levels
