Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain a comprehensive internal risk management program across the organization.
• Lead patient safety initiatives and oversee organization-wide patient safety program activities.
• Conduct and direct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to drive system-based improvements.
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents in accordance with policy and state/federal regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and facilitate disclosure conversations and follow-up with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and provide risk management education to staff, leadership, and physicians.
• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, the CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality-of-care issues.
• Support accreditation and quality efforts including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support to ensure compliance.
• Monitor regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and maintain current knowledge of federal/state laws impacting risk and quality.

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (agency staff must have active AK license; direct hires must have applied prior to start).
• CPHRM certification (within two years).
• Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months and maintained every 3 years.
• Minimum 3 years' experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary groups.

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska
• CPHRM certification (required within 2 years)
