Roles & Responsibilities

Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to standards.
Directly evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time), delivering hands-on therapy and measurable outcomes.
Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians to maintain competency and safety.
Coordinate and oversee clinical education and competency processes, developing staff skills and professional growth plans.
Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice acts, departmental policies, and professional standards.
Develop, review, and maintain OT policies and procedures addressing scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation.
Lead program development initiatives and support administrative tasks to expand and improve therapy services.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (required)
Current Occupational Therapy license in the State of California (Board of Medical Quality Assurance) (required)
Familiarity with California Therapy Board recommendations and Rehabilitation Services Department expectations (required)
Proven experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation support staff
Strong clinical documentation skills and demonstrated regulatory compliance experience
Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is preferred

Education

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (required)

Expertise in Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatment
Clinical leadership and staff supervision skills
Regulatory knowledge relevant to California OT practice
Policy and procedure development and implementation
Clinical education, competency assessment, and staff development
Discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
Strong documentation and administrative capabilities
