Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical, ortho/spine, trauma and psych-hold patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care effectively to ensure patient safety
• Administer medications and manage infusion pumps (Alaris) and other unit equipment confidently
• Monitor telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry, recognizing and escalating changes in condition
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, discharge planning and patient flow
• Document care accurately and timely in Meditech and use tools like Teletracking and PatientKeeper for bed placement
• Support patient experience by communicating clearly, advocating for patients, and delivering bedside teaching

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) required
• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg RN experience (must-have)
• BLS required; ACLS available/optional and preferred for certain patients
• Comfortable working night shifts and floating within the unit as needed
• Proven ability to prioritize, think critically, and manage time in a busy unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical reasoning skills
• Prioritization and triage for multiple patients (1:5-6 RN ratios typical)
• Telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG familiarity
• Experience with Meditech documentation system
• Familiarity with Alaris infusion pumps and specialty equipment (wound vacs, chest tubes, NG/feeding tubes)
• Knowledge of HD/peritoneal dialysis basics, CBI, and common med-surg procedures
• Effective communication, teamwork, punctuality, organization and self-starting attitude
• Comfort using Teletracking, PatientKeeper, Inspire App and Wound Capture
