Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support to staff, new employees, and students by offering hands-on guidance and mentorship
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and continuing education activities to elevate clinical practice
• Support nursing staff with complex patient care decisions, medication administration, and treatment plans
• Act as a clinical practice resource and mentor, helping staff refine skills and adopt best practices
• Serve as a liaison between frontline nursing staff and leadership to communicate concerns and drive improvements
• Analyze patient data to identify gaps in clinical practice and design interventions to close those gaps
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based standards of care
• Facilitate rollout of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with targeted staff training
• Perform quality control audits and report issues related to care accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the State of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; BSN preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC and High Risk Competency - SEARHC
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards and acute care procedures
• Safe medication administration and patient assessment skills
• Familiarity with evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
• Experience with electronic health records systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to teach using various methods and assess clinical competency
• Critical thinking, calm decision-making in high-stress situations, and effective interpersonal communication
• Ability to motivate and mentor clinical staff to achieve practice excellence
