Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate surgical services to ensure safe, efficient perioperative care for patients.
• Supervise and mentor perioperative staff, including circulating RNs, fostering professional growth and high standards.
• Oversee daily operating room operations, including staffing, assignments, and workflow optimization.
• Implement short-term and long-term solutions to identified problems in the surgical department.
• Maintain composure and activate appropriate emergency responses during true clinical emergencies.
• Delegate duties effectively to maintain efficient standards of operation and high-quality patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and peers to ensure coordinated patient care and smooth handoffs.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, hazardous materials handling, and post-anesthesia care requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (required).
• Current California RN license (required).
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required).
• Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required).
• CNOR certification (preferred).
• One year of post-anesthesia care experience (preferred).
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience (preferred).
• Strong written and oral English skills (required).

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Surgical services management and perioperative nursing expertise.
• Hands-on patient care and circulating RN responsibilities in the OR.
• Strong supervision, delegation, and team leadership skills.
• Emergency response and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Problem identification, evaluation, and implementation of effective solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and peers.
• Familiarity with post-anesthesia care processes and safety/hazard protocols.
• Physical stamina for sitting, standing, walking and occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
