Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care and manage mechanical ventilation for adult and pediatric patients
• Operate and troubleshoot transport ventilators, GE R860 adult vents and Draeger infant/pediatric vents
• Deliver high flow oxygen therapy and administer non-invasive ventilation when indicated
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in the Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with critical care teams to develop and implement individualized respiratory plans
• Participate in patient transports and ensure ventilator continuity and safety during movement
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and contribute to rapid, lifesaving interventions
• Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and discharge breathing plans

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
• NRP preferred
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience (as listed)
• Comfort working across critical care units and pediatric/NICU service lines

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and weaning strategies
• Experience with high flow oxygen devices (Vapotherm, Comfort Flow) and non-invasive ventilation (V60)
• Familiarity with transport ventilators, including Newport HT70
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR documentation and workflows
• Comfort working in high-acuity critical care settings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Understanding of adult, pediatric and NICU respiratory needs and equipment
