Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the CVOR for open-heart procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes
Prepare the operating room and maintain a sterile field for complex cardiac surgeries
Anticipate surgeon needs and provide timely instrumentation and support during procedures
Coordinate with anesthesia, perfusion, and multidisciplinary teams for seamless perioperative care
Advocate for patients and families, delivering compassionate communication before, during, and after surgery
Participate in clinical ladder activities and contribute to continual process and quality improvements

Qualifications

Current RN licensure required
Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience required
Cardiac Open-Heart experience required (CVOR experience essential)
BSN preferred; candidates willing to obtain BSN within three years of hire will be considered
Ability to work day shifts primarily, with willingness to cover mid shifts and take Open Heart call as required

Education

BSN preferred (or commitment to obtain within three years may be acceptable with relevant experience)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong perioperative nursing knowledge and sterile technique expertise
Experience with open-heart/CVOR procedures and instrumentation
Excellent teamwork and communication skills in high-acuity surgical settings
Ability to prioritize, anticipate needs, and remain calm under pressure
Commitment to patient-centered care and quality clinical outcomes
