Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for adults and geriatrics in an inpatient rehabilitation setting
• Administer medications and routine therapies safely and accurately, following unit policies and best practices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (PT/OT/SLP, physicians, case managers) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document care, assessments, and progress in EPIC in a timely and professional manner
• Support patients and families through education, discharge planning, and rehabilitation goals to maximize recovery
• Maintain unit safety and infection control standards, including adherence to fingernail/artificial nail policy
• Float to MedSurg as needed and adapt to changing patient acuity and census

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in acute care, med-surg, or inpatient rehab preferred
• BLS certification required at hire
• Comfortable with 12-hour shifts and floating to MedSurg when needed
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Willingness to complete orientation requirements, including an open-book skills exam during orientation (90% required to pass)
• Ability to work a schedule that includes weekends and holiday coverage as outlined

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or nursing diploma required; BSN preferred but not required
• BLS certification required; unit-specific orientation provided

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate multidisciplinary rehab care
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for safe medication administration
• Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
• Competence caring for patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, amputee, brain injury, and neurological disorders
• Comfort managing adult and geriatric patient populations in an acute rehab environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Experience working with patient care techs/nurse aides and understanding unit staffing ratios
