Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and families about respiratory conditions, interventions, and discharge plans
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care treatments and interventions
• Deliver respiratory therapies as ordered, maintaining close communication with physicians and nursing staff
• Share clinical knowledge with colleagues and students; serve as a role model for best clinical practices
• Accept reassignment to other units as needed to support patient care across the facility

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Illinois state respiratory license
• BLS certification
• NRP-MHC certification
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (required)
• Comfort working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical environment

Education

• Associate's degree (Respiratory Therapy or related field) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong respiratory care skills and familiarity with common respiratory interventions
• Patient assessment and care planning expertise
• Effective interdisciplinary communication with medical and nursing teams
• Experience with patient and family education about respiratory conditions
• Clinical education skills and willingness to mentor students and staff
