Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in the step-down unit
• Continuously monitor and interpret patient data to detect subtle changes
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team
• Respond promptly to acute changes and coordinate emergent interventions
• Maintain clear, timely, and thorough documentation in the patient record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligible to obtain licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred or supported
• Experience or training in step-down/SDU nursing strongly preferred
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring and care of moderately acute patients
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment and recognition of clinical deterioration
• Familiarity with telemetry, IV management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Skilled in medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm in urgent situations
• Experience with electronic medical record systems and accurate charting
