Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients, ensuring safety and comfort
Perform focused assessments and timely documentation for pre-op status
Prepare patients and families for procedures with clear, reassuring communication
Collaborate closely with the surgical team and perioperative staff to coordinate smooth transitions
Ensure adherence to pre-op protocols and infection control standards during the 4-hour procedural block
Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain high-quality, pediatric-focused care

Qualifications

Registered Nurse with experience in pre-op and pediatric patient care (as role indicates)
Comfort working in 4-hour procedural/pre-op blocks (no break) and participating in required orientation
Strong communication skills for interacting with families and surgical teams
Ability to follow unit protocols and contribute to a collaborative care environment

Knowledge & Skills

Familiarity with pediatric pre-operative workflows and patient preparation
Skill in conducting focused pre-op assessments and accurate documentation
Ability to educate and support patients and families prior to procedures
Teamwork mindset for coordinating with perioperative and surgical staff
