Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Continuously monitor patient status and respond rapidly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and therapies safely and according to protocols
• Operate and manage advanced pediatric support equipment including ventilators and infusion devices
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapy, social work — to develop and implement care plans
• Serve as an advocate and educator for patients and families, explaining treatments and providing emotional support
• Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Participate in orientation activities and precepting as needed to support new team members

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts (or compact/license eligible) required
• BLS certification required; PALS preferred or required depending on unit policy
• Previous pediatric critical care (PICU) experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable with advanced pediatric life support technologies and emergency response
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in high-acuity settings
• Willingness to complete facility orientation as provided

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and best practices
• Skill with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and complex medication administration
• Proficiency with IV/central line care and pediatric dosing calculations
• Experience with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize in fast-paced, high-stress situations while maintaining compassionate care
