Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor PCU patients with vigilance and clinical expertise
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Interpret telemetry and vital signs to detect changes quickly and act decisively
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow patient-centered plans
• Provide clear patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Escalate changes in condition appropriately and participate in timely handoffs
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic charting and comply with hospital policies

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (KY licensure required or compact where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or willing to obtain
• Prior PCU, step-down, telemetry, or progressive care experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment and telemetry monitoring
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Ability to prioritize care and manage multiple high-acuity patients
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Accurate electronic documentation and charting habits
• Patient- and family-focused education and bedside manner
