Roles & Responsibilities

Provide attentive post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring safe recovery
Assess and monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery status, escalating concerns promptly
Administer medications and treatments according to orders and protocols
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons and the perioperative team to coordinate care
Document patient status and interventions accurately in the medical record
Educate families on post-procedure care and provide compassionate support
Participate in orientation and ongoing unit training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be valid in Massachusetts or eligible for licensure
Experience in PACU and caring for pediatric patients preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred
Comfortable working in a fast-paced perioperative recovery environment
Current immunizations and willingness to complete background and health screenings as required

Knowledge & Skills

Strong pediatric assessment and post-anesthesia care skills
Familiarity with PACU protocols and recovery room workflows
Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
Excellent communication skills with children and families
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Accurate clinical documentation and time management
