Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, efficient post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgery
Assess and monitor patients’ airway, breathing, circulation and level of consciousness
Administer medications and treatments as ordered and monitor responses
Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and physicians to ensure smooth handoffs
Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
Document clinical findings, interventions and patient progress accurately and timely
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and escalate when appropriate
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

Current, active RN license (Louisiana) — required
Experience or demonstrated competency in PACU nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications (ACLS/PALS) preferred
Strong postoperative assessment and pain management skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a perioperative environment
Ability to work 12.5-hour shift blocks and adapt to unit staffing needs

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia assessment and recovery protocols
Airway management and basic resuscitation techniques
Medication administration and titration in the PACU setting
IV therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain management strategies
Electronic medical record documentation and clinical charting
Interprofessional collaboration and patient-centered care practices
