Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care
- Document patient status and care interventions clearly and timely
- Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plans, and discharge needs
- Respond effectively to patient changes and escalate concerns appropriately
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama (or compact RN license where applicable)
- Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing — confident clinical judgment on med/surg units
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a busy hospital environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and monitoring of med/surg patients
- Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
- Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
- Ability to prioritize care and manage multiple patients safely
- Patient and family education skills with a compassionate approach
