Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing to adult ICU patients with attention to safety and dignity
• Monitor and document patient status, trends, and responses to treatment in the medical record
• Administer medications, titrate drips, and manage advanced life support equipment including ventilators
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize care plans
• Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in code responses and rapid assessments
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge planning with compassion and clarity

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama or eligibility for state licensure
• Prior ICU experience required; demonstrated comfort with critical care patient populations
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain
• Strong clinical judgment, ability to handle high-acuity situations, and effective communication skills
• Current Basic Life Support certification and any facility-required training or vaccinations

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and monitoring skills
• Ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring experience
• Medication administration and titration of continuous infusions
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm during high-pressure situations
• Strong teamwork and bedside teaching skills
