Shift Type: Rotating 12.5-hour shifts (day and night coverage; exact start/end times vary), schedule may include weekends

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and triage patients quickly and compassionately in a busy emergency department
Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the ED team to deliver prompt care
Administer medications, start IVs, and perform emergency interventions per protocols
Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and transitions of care in the medical record
Provide clear education and support to patients and families during stressful situations
Respond to acute emergencies and assist in stabilizing critical patients
Participate in unit-based improvement initiatives to enhance patient flow and outcomes

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility via compact licensure
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
Previous Emergency Department experience preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in high-acuity settings
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

Emergency assessment and triage best practices
IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedures common to ED
Trauma and critical care fundamentals
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-stress environments
Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
