Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for elective and emergency surgical cases
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure strict sterile technique throughout procedures
• Perform intraoperative monitoring and anticipate patient needs during surgery
• Coordinate case flow and multi-task efficiently so the OR runs on time
• Participate in after-hours call coverage to staff ORs for nights, weekends and holidays
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document perioperative care accurately and communicate effectively during handoffs

Qualifications

• Current, active Alaska RN license required at time of submission
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN, Associate Degree, or Diploma)
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
• Flu vaccine required
• Ability to complete fingerprinting and required onboarding steps promptly (start date contingent on fingerprint processing)
• Experience in Critical Access or rural operating room settings strongly preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (BSN, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Diploma in Nursing)
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and surgical patient care
• Sterile technique and instrument management
• Intraoperative monitoring and patient assessment
• Familiarity with a broad range of cases: abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastic, orthopedics, vascular and OB/GYN
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
• Effective communication and teamwork during high-acuity cases
• Willingness to participate in call rotations and after-hours staffing
