Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy services as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support residents' functional independence
• Implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic activities focused on rehabilitation goals
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Document treatment sessions, progress notes, and updates in a timely and accurate manner
• Educate residents and families on strategies to improve daily functioning and safety
• Monitor and maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
• Contribute to team meetings, discharge planning, and quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
• State licensure or ability to obtain licensure in South Dakota as required
• Comfort working in a rehabilitation/nursing and rehab setting
• Ability to work a guaranteed 36 hours (scheduled for 40) during the assignment
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program (associate degree or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of rehabilitation principles and therapeutic activities
• Skilled in patient assessment and implementing evidence-based interventions
• Proficient documentation and charting practices
• Clear communication with residents, families, and clinical teams
• Adaptability to work with a variety of ages and clinical diagnoses
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and standard rehab equipment
