Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychological assessments and prioritize patient safety
• Deliver evidence-based individual and group therapy tailored to the correctional setting
• Develop and implement clear, measurable treatment plans that support recovery
• Collaborate with medical, custody, and mental health colleagues to coordinate care
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization when acute needs arise
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the facility’s records
• Support rehabilitation goals and facilitate referrals to community resources when appropriate
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical expertise

Qualifications

• Active California licensure as a Psychologist (PSY), or eligible/licensed LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW
• Experience or demonstrated ability to work with adults in mental health settings; correctional experience is a plus
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet clearance requirements
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor in a secure setting
• Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care

Education

• Doctoral degree in Psychology preferred for Psychologist credential
• Master’s degree required for LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure candidates

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical assessment, diagnoses, and treatment planning
• Proficient with evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed approaches)
• Crisis management and de-escalation techniques
• Comfortable leading group therapy and psychoeducational sessions
• Competent documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
• Collaborative approach with interdisciplinary teams and custody staff
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations
