Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide clear education and instructions to patients and caregivers regarding respiratory disease, interventions, and discharge plans
• Deliver respiratory care per physician orders while maintaining open communication with medical and nursing staff
• Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to meet patient care demands
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for best practices
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory therapies and interventions

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• Valid Illinois respiratory license required
• BLS required
• NRP-MHC required
• ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CSU-ALS preferred where applicable
• Experience in Emergency Department, ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, Step Down, or Acute Rehab highly valued
• Comfortable with cross-unit reassignment and strong teamwork skills

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required

Knowledge & Skills

• Respiratory care and ventilator management
• Patient education and discharge planning
• Care planning and evaluating patient outcomes
• Multidisciplinary collaboration and clear communication
• Airway management and emergency response procedures
• Interpretation of ABGs and respiratory diagnostics
• Providing respiratory therapy per physician orders
