Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for SICU patients, making high-quality decisions under pressure
• Manage advanced lines and devices including central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, NG tubes and Foley catheters
• Participate in or assist with intubations and ventilator management when needed
• Perform dressing changes and bedside procedures with attention to sterile technique and patient comfort
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient care plans
• Float to other units as required, demonstrating adaptability and a team-first attitude
• Adhere to unit guidelines including punctuality, badging procedures and taking a full 30-minute lunch

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required — temporary licenses will NOT be accepted
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience (2–3 years ICU experience preferred)
• Comfort with floating between units and working rotating schedules including weekends
• Experience with Meditech preferred; exposure to CRRT and IABP is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-acuity settings
• Critical care nursing skills (SICU/MICU/MSICU experience)
• Competence in chest tube management, central and arterial line care
• Intubation and ventilator familiarity
• NG tube and Foley catheter management, dressing changes
• Familiarity with CRRT and IABP therapies (preferred)
• Documentation proficiency in Meditech
• Professionalism with attendance, punctuality and unit policy adherence
