Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality intermediate and stepdown cardiac nursing care for CVU patients
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms to detect changes
• Safely titrate and manage vasoactive drips (e.g., amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem)
• Document timely and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and the interdisciplinary team
• Respond to emergencies and follow ACLS/NIHSS protocols when needed
• Support thoracic, EP, cath lab and structural heart patient needs during transitions and downgrades
• Mentor and coordinate with patient care techs and tele/monitor techs to optimize unit workflow

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required for submission)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Minimum experience with cardiac/stepdown patient population (posting requires at least 1 year; job details note 2 years)
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to verify 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Ability to read/interpret telemetry and perform drip titration safely
• Willingness to comply with hospital policies (e.g., no artificial nails for direct patient care)

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and reading cardiac rhythms
• EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Vasoactive drip titration and cardiovascular medication knowledge
• Experience with tele/monitor systems and remote tele tech workflows
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP and basic respiratory troubleshooting
• Strong critical thinking, situational awareness, and teamwork skills
