Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality med/surg nursing care for patients on a 32-bed acute medical unit
• Administer medications and manage multiple pharmacy regimens accurately and timely
• Perform IV insertion and manage lines, including central/PICC line care when needed
• Manage advanced equipment: IV pumps, bladder scanners, lifts, oxygen/CPAP and HEPA machines
• Care for patients with respiratory, renal, endocrine, GI, infectious disease, and dementia diagnoses
• Manage feeding tubes and wound VAC therapy with attention to patient comfort and outcomes
• Prioritize patient safety and comfort while handling patient loads up to 6 routinely (willing to accept up to 8 when required)
• Float to other med/surg areas as needed and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — able to practice in Missouri (state licensure required)
• Med/Surg nursing experience required; travel nurse experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Demonstrated IV insertion and line management skills
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and airway management on med/surg patients
• Comfortable managing feeding tubes, wound VACs, and common med/surg equipment
• Able and willing to float to other med/surg areas and accept variable patient assignments
• Current CEU documentation required by Boone Health (provide during interview process)

Education

• Nursing diploma/ADN or BSN (preparation for RN role required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg assessment and clinical judgment
• Medication administration and multi-drug management
• IV/line care including PICC and central line familiarity
• Respiratory care knowledge including CPAP/BiPAP operation
• Feeding tube and wound VAC management
• Patient safety practices, lift/transfer techniques, and bladder scanner use
• Comfort functioning independently on night shift with changing patient acuity
