Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate clinical laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and STAT micro to support patient care
• Maintain and document quality control and calibrations to ensure reliable results
• Perform microscope work and microscopic reviews as required for diagnostic decisions
• Accurately enter and review results in the Softlab documentation system
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and escalate issues when necessary to minimize downtime
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to prioritize and deliver timely testing
• Follow unit guidelines, safety protocols and hospital policies to maintain a safe lab environment
• Support and mentor less experienced staff and work cooperatively with permanent team members

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science, Biomedical Science, or equivalent (required)
• National certification required (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience (explicitly required)
• Hands-on experience with chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and microscopy
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and every other weekend coverage
• Familiarity with quality control, calibrations and lab documentation systems (Softlab preferred)

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science, Biomedical Science, or equivalent field

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical chemistry testing and instrument operation
• Hematology procedures and microscopic review
• Urinalysis and coagulation testing workflows
• Quality control processes and calibration procedures
• Microscopy techniques and interpretation
• Experience with Softlab or similar LIS/documentation systems
• Strong attention to detail, time management and communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and follow corrective actions
