Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care across adult and NICU/pediatric service lines
• Manage mechanical ventilation and titrate ventilator settings to patient needs
• Perform safe ventilator transport and use transport ventilators when required
• Provide noninvasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen therapy using devices like V60 and Vapotherm
• Document care accurately in the Cerner EMR and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
• Support critical care units across the campus as part of a flexible float pool
• Contribute to patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina respiratory license required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• NRP preferred
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience (as listed)
• Comfortable working in high-acuity critical care and NICU/Peds environments
• Ability to work rotating schedules and at least the stated weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong mechanical ventilation skills including GE R860 and pediatric Draeger ventilators
• Experience with transport ventilators such as Newport HT70
• Proficiency with noninvasive ventilation and ventilator weaning protocols
• Hands-on use of high-flow oxygen devices like Vapotherm and Comfort Flow
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and order management
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
