Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators and titrate respiratory support to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform airway management including extubation and tracheostomy care
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust therapies accordingly
• Provide noninvasive support such as BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
• Administer and set up nebulizer and medication delivery systems safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during critical events like traumas and C-sections
• Document care accurately in Epic and communicate changes to the care team
• Support neonatal and pediatric patients when needed, assisting with high-risk deliveries and neonatal procedures

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Washington state license in hand (WA LIC IN HAND) required
• ACLS and PALS required; NRP preferred; BLS required or preferred per facility notes
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant respiratory care experience
• Comfortable charting in Epic (charting system required)
• Experience in adult critical care, emergency department, and pediatric/neonatal settings a plus
• Orientation: 24 hours (facility-provided)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning strategies
• BiPAP and CPAP setup and monitoring
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) use and oxygen therapy techniques
• Interpretation of ABGs and basic EKG knowledge
• Airway management: nasal/oral airways, suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy care
• Nebulizer therapies (handheld, T-piece, trach collar) and medication administration proficiency
• Pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection
• Familiarity with Draeger equipment preferred; comfortable in trauma and acute care environments
