Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; also 8-hour shifts 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on care to adolescents and adults in a locked inpatient psychiatric unit
Build meaningful connections while supporting patients through depression, anxiety, substance use, and other behavioral health challenges
Use strong de-escalation and communication skills to create a safe, healing environment
Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapists, and social workers to deliver holistic care
Assist with 15-minute safety rounds and stay actively engaged in patient support
Float throughout the hospital as needed to provide extra support or 1:1 observation

Qualifications

Active RN license in North Dakota or compact license
BLS certification required
CPI certification preferred
Acute or inpatient psychiatric experience preferred
Strong de-escalation and communication skills
Adolescent experience is a plus but not required
First-time travelers welcome

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders
Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure
Comfort working on a locked unit with emergency response protocols
Willingness to assist with patient care tasks beyond traditional nursing duties
