Shift Type: Night schedule, 3x12-hour nights per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM NOC; specific nights vary by assignment and may include weekends

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical and oncology patients on a locked corrections unit
- Float between oncology Med-Surg and PCU assignments as unit needs require
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions
- Administer and manage IV therapy, blood products, and central/peripheral lines
- Provide respiratory support including tracheostomy care, HFNC and non-invasive airway management
- Perform feeding tube care and manage pre/post hemodialysis needs
- Maintain accurate EPIC charting and use Pyxis for medication administration
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, PT, respiratory, and rapid response teams
- Ensure staff and patient safety while working in a secured corrections environment
- Participate in infection control and isolation precautions to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (state licensure as required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience within the last 3 years, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass
- EPIC charting experience required; Pyxis medication system experience preferred
- Comfortable and experienced working in secure/corrections settings
- Experience with telemetry, medical-surgical care, IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Ability to manage blood product administration, PCA, and heparin protocols
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Willingness to float to other MedSurg units within the James Cancer tower
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication workflows
- Strong telemetry skills including dysrhythmia recognition and response
- IV therapy, PICC/central line care, phlebotomy and blood product administration
- Tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway support, HFNC and ABG interpretation
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/post hemodialysis knowledge and renal failure management
- Familiarity with insulin protocols and management of cardiac drips (no titration)
- Solid teamwork and communication skills for working with corrections officers and interdisciplinary teams
- Adherence to isolation precautions and infection control practices
